Recently we were blessed to have the opportunity to take my (Melissa's) granny to the Kentucky Castle for dinner and a tour. We had so much fun looking around at all the new renovations that the new owners have done. The castle in Versailles has never looked better and they are still working on it!
We are so excited to share with you this sweet local business that will meet all your gift-giving needs, The Crazy Bunny Lady! When you are getting started in your wedding planning, you may overlook one important detail...gifts!
One of the newest local venues, The Mane on Main, is being called, "Lexington's Venue with a View". This name could not be more accurate! We went up to the location of this new event and wedding venue up on the 15th floor of the Chase Bank building on East Main Street. What a magnificent view it was with snow falling outside of the huge windows! We toured the 12,500 square-foot space that houses Dupree Catering, their exclusive caterer, and enjoyed talking with the coordinator, Heather. The beautiful space can accommodate weddings and events for up to 500 people total. The largest room can hold about 200 and would make a lovely ceremony site. The smallest room holds up to 60 but would be perfect for a bridal suite. The 360 degree view of the city from the big windows provides plenty of natural light and we hear that the view is even more breathtaking at night with the miles of lights in site. We can't wait to shoot a wedding here! Contact them today for a tour!
A March snow is almost to be expected in Kentucky but after some mild, warmer days with trees budding and flowers lifting up their heads, it's still a surprise to wake up to a winter wonderland. We had about 5 inches of snow in Lawrenceburg but with the temperatures up near 40 degrees, it was the perfect day to get out and capture a few shots. Keeneland was especially lovely decked out in white so we wanted to share a few photos with you to enjoy. Now we've gotten a beautiful snow so we say it's time for spring!
Katie & Jordan met us out at Keeneland Race Track for their engagement session in Lexington on a perfect February day. We were so afraid that we'd get rained out because the forecast looked dreary all week! But, we woke up that morning, checked the weather app, and decided to go for it! We were so glad we did because we couldn't have asked for better! Even though their was cloud cover, we got a little glow too which always makes us happy!
Abby & Jimmy are a sweet, fun couple that are getting married this summer at Warrenwood Manor in Danville, KY. We had a blast walking around a private farm in Richmond for their engagement photos. We loved how they incorporated sentimental areas and backgrounds into their images so that the photos are not only beautiful, but have an even deeper meaning for them. These photos represent their beginning, present and future.
We had the pleasure of going out to Lancaster last week to visit a new Kentucky wedding venue, Starlit Heights. The coordinator, Amber, was so kind to give us a tour of the location and let us know more about what they offer. The venue has an open air pavilion that would be perfect for wedding receptions as well as other events. The setting overlooks miles of gorgeous Kentucky farmland and a cute little pond is one of the focal points. There are several options for your ceremony location and portrait possibilities are endless on the 9+ acres! There are wooded areas that would be so pretty in photos! We can definitely envision beautiful engagement photos being shot here! One of the highlights is Burdette Knob, an amazing overlook that would be a super romantic place for a proposal or an elopement and Amber would be happy to help you set that up!
Engagement sessions in the winter can be tricky but we were so fortunate to have a gorgeous venue to shoot Danielle & Sladyn's photos! Danielle is one of the wedding coordinators at Spindletop and when she mentioned having them done there, we were all in! Not only is Spindletop so pretty, but it was fun getting a little tour and learning a little history behind this Lexington landmark. Danielle and Sladyn are a super adorable couple and so sweet! She looked amazing in her striking red dress that just popped against the earthy winter tones outdoors as well as inside the historic venue. Some of the photos were shot inside of the large library and others in the original owner's bedroom. It's a really special place for engagement photos or a wedding so if you're searching for a wedding venue in Kentucky, make sure to check it out!
