Abby & Jimmy are a sweet, fun couple that are getting married this summer at Warrenwood Manor in Danville, KY. We had a blast walking around a private farm in Richmond for their engagement photos. We loved how they incorporated sentimental areas and backgrounds into their images so that the photos are not only beautiful, but have an even deeper meaning for them. These photos represent their beginning, present and future.
We had the pleasure of going out to Lancaster last week to visit a new Kentucky wedding venue, Starlit Heights. The coordinator, Amber, was so kind to give us a tour of the location and let us know more about what they offer. The venue has an open air pavilion that would be perfect for wedding receptions as well as other events. The setting overlooks miles of gorgeous Kentucky farmland and a cute little pond is one of the focal points. There are several options for your ceremony location and portrait possibilities are endless on the 9+ acres! There are wooded areas that would be so pretty in photos! We can definitely envision beautiful engagement photos being shot here! One of the highlights is Burdette Knob, an amazing overlook that would be a super romantic place for a proposal or an elopement and Amber would be happy to help you set that up!
Engagement sessions in the winter can be tricky but we were so fortunate to have a gorgeous venue to shoot Danielle & Sladyn's photos! Danielle is one of the wedding coordinators at Spindletop and when she mentioned having them done there, we were all in! Not only is Spindletop so pretty, but it was fun getting a little tour and learning a little history behind this Lexington landmark. Danielle and Sladyn are a super adorable couple and so sweet! She looked amazing in her striking red dress that just popped against the earthy winter tones outdoors as well as inside the historic venue. Some of the photos were shot inside of the large library and others in the original owner's bedroom. It's a really special place for engagement photos or a wedding so if you're searching for a wedding venue in Kentucky, make sure to check it out!
Kentucky is one of the most beautiful places in the world and Central Kentucky offers some very picturesque locations for your engagement session. Although not all these locations are found directly inside of Lexington, they’re not a long drive from the heart of the Bluegrass. We encourage our couples to choose locations that are special and meaningful to them. This list is truly only the beginning of gorgeous places that we can shoot your engagement session but hopefully it will serve to get your mind going in the right direction.
Whether you’re still dating, engaged or married, it can be challenging to come up with fun, new date ideas. Dinner and a movie are great but it’s always nice to try something different. Here are a few ideas of things couples in the Lexington area can do on a wintery day or evening that are a little unique! Some of these options are especially for winter while others can be done anytime. Some keep you at home (perfect for when you’re snowed in) and some require you to get out and go somewhere! If you have more ideas that you would like to add, comment below! Keith's favorite is #4, and Melissa's favorite is #13!
What an amazing year 2017 was! We shot lots of weddings and beautiful couples that are crazy in love! It's been an incredible blessing to be a small part of each of our clients' lives and we are so thankful for all the new friends that we've made this year. We are confident that 2018 is going to be just as fabulous and we invite each of you to share in our journey!
Megan & Chase are a super cute and sweet couple that are getting married in May 2018. They're both in medical school which can make schedules crazy so we decided to shoot their engagement session while they were in town for Christmas. Who knew that it would be about 20 degrees that day?! It was so cold but the sun was shining and Megan and Chase were amazing. We met them and their adorable dog in Frankfort to shoot at several different locations. We went to the Old Capital building, Brick Street (so cute!), the "new" Kentucky State Capital, Cove Spring Park and Buffalo Trace Distillery. Each location was close to the other and offered awesome photo opportunities. Megan and Chase were troopers every step of the way and we got some great shots! We are so excited to shoot their wedding at the Winchester Opera House in May!
Congratulations on your engagement! The holidays are a popular time for couples to become engaged and it’s such a sweet, exciting occasion! Becoming engaged right before or at the New Year makes it feel like you have a fresh start together as a couple. It is also the perfect time to begin planning for the special day!
