Kentucky is full of beautiful wedding venues and if you’re searching for a barn or field to say your vows in, you’re in luck! Lexington is definitely not lacking in barn and outdoor wedding venues! It makes sense considering the gorgeous rolling hills, abundant horse farms and even wooded areas that we have around here. Barns lend a sense of comfort and relaxing vibes to a wedding even if you’re not planning on a super rustic theme for your wedding. You can go country or you can dress it up with twinkle lights and drapery making it the perfect combo for true southern charm. We’re going to give you a list of venues that you need to check out if you’re a bride that loves a good barn.
The Bluegrass Wedding Barn
Janna at the Bluegrass Wedding Barn will make sure that you’re wedding day is perfect and stress-free. This barn is huge and beautiful, in the most “Kentucky” setting you can get! You might even have horses watching your wedding ceremony in the barn! There’s also an amazing ceremony location overlooking a vast expanse of rolling hills.
If you love the Red River Gorge, it is worth your time to drive out and tour Hemlock Springs. This event space is so unique and Skip & Liz, the owners, are wonderful to work with! Our favorite part is the ceremony space…in the woods! It’s beautiful on it’s own but there’s so much that can be done to make it special to your day as well.
Talon Winery & Vineyards
Talon Winery, located in Lexington, KY joins the barn setting and grape vineyards. Peaceful is the word that comes to mind when we think of Talon. The Ca"Barn"et Barrel Barn overlooks one of the ponds and has a small additional room that we have seen used for the guest book and photo booth.
Barn at Springhouse
If you are a flower lover…this is your place. The Barn at Springhouse is located at Springhouse Gardens and not only has gorgeous flower gardens everywhere but the barn is a beauty! We particularly love the iconic wall adorned with antique mirrors!
The Round Barn Barn Stable of Memories
The Round Barn Stable of Memories at Red Mile is a unique barn right in the middle of town in Lexington. With such a great location and amazing catering, you can’t help but love it! Bayou Bluegrass Catering takes care of your food needs and they are fabulous!
Evans Orchard Event Barn
Evans Orchard is not just a great place to go for a fall outing, they also feature a historic tobacco barn sitting on 175 acres in Georgetown, KY. Polo Barn at Saxony Farm is located in Lexington, KY and you can’t get a prettier place to see the sun set over Kentucky fields. This is an actual Thoroughbred horse farm for all you horse lovers that want a Kentucky-inspired wedding that still feels high-end and classic. We love that there’s a guest cottage that you can use for your bridal suite!
Waveland Historic Site
It’s amazing how few people know about Waveland when it’s right in Lexington, off of Nicholasville Rd! This is a stunning historic home, owned by the state, and they give tours. The big red barn on the property is rented out for weddings but the lovely gardens are perfect for a garden-style wedding as well.
First Vineyard is located in Jessamine County and has gorgeous views of the vineyards and hills. The first wedding took place there in 1806! There are so many great photo opportunities here!
If you dream of saying your vows while overlooking miles and miles of Kentucky’s most beautiful farm land, you better check out Starlit Heights. This venue’s most amazing feature is Burdette Knob, the highest point for 20 miles around, where you can actually have a small ceremony or elopement.
The Vintage Barn at Merefield
This unique barn is located in Midway, KY which is the sweetest little town! The Vintage Barn at Merefield offers farmhouse tables, antique chairs, a round barn and cottage.
Equus Run Vineyards
Equus Run Vineyards is also in Midway and allows you to get married right amongst the vineyard! There’s a barn here as well that serves as the perfect rain backup plan. If the weather’s right, there’s an amazing sunset!
One thing we’ve noticed about Moonlight Fields is that they are always working to make things even better than before! Located in Nicholasville, KY, there’s a barn, fields, gazebo, love shack, hummingbird patio and more.
Red River Gorge Wedding Barn
Sitting on 45 acres, the Red River Gorge Wedding Barn, is a rustic wedding dreamland. The bridal suite features a floor to ceiling mirror, three make-up and hair stations and a hair salon chair. Another nice option is that you can even stay the night before or after the wedding in a bridal suite with a hot tub!
One of the most stunning overlook ceremony locations around is at Cliffview Resort! This Red River Gorge wedding venue gives us all the warm feels with it’s mountain views and cabin-like lodge where you can get ready. Bonus points for the picturesque pond with a dock you can take photos on!
Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill has to be one of our favorite places to just visit in the Central KY area. The nature is beautiful, there are farm animals like goats and sheep, the historic buildings, and great food! It’s the perfect place to get married on a huge amount of property with tons of ceremony space options.
One Oak is a brand new venue right across the Jessamine County line from Lexington. The owners are so nice, we can only imagine that they will show the same kindness to their future clients! They have several lovely options for the ceremony location too.
Near Shaker Village is a new barn venue called The Glengary. This rustic venue’s home is on a functioning farm and there is no shortage of lovely spaces for photo opportunities. If your dream is to get married in the country with fields, barns, silos and farm animals, this might be your perfect spot!
The Barn at Cedar Grove
The Barn at Cedar Grove is in Greensburg, KY and features a 3500 sq ft barn along with a Bride’s Cottage and Groom’s cabin. There are farmhouse tables, a chandelier and whisky barrels among many other nice amenities that will allow you to personalize your wedding.
The Thoroughbred Center on Paris Pike has been a wedding and event venue for a long time! They have done lots of remodeling to update the space and make it even easier to make the space your own. There are great indoor options as well as outdoor options and there are lovely white porches that allow you to have beautiful outdoor portraits even when it rains.
HIstoric Shelby Manor at Arcadia Farms
A venue rich in history, Shelby Manor was the home to Kentucky’s first governor, Isaac Shelby. You can use the manor to get ready in, even spend the weekend there! The white round barn is perfect for your reception and there are multiple areas for your outdoor ceremony.
The Ashley Inn
The Ashley Inn is located in Lancaster and is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast. It’s such a lovely place for a bride and her girls to get ready. There are plenty of gorgeous areas outdoors for the ceremony in addition to the barn. And you can’t miss getting your portraits taken with that classic teal truck!
Keeneland may be the most iconic spot in Lexington when it comes to the horse industry. There is historic charm everywhere along with the most picturesque locations for portraits. There are few places in Lexington that are prettier.
Terrapin Hill Farm
If you are more into the outdoors in a very natural, relaxed way, Terrapin Hill Farm might just be the venue for you. Think…marry your sweetheart on a hill overlooking the valleys around Harrodsburg and then head over to the pavilion to dance under twinkling lights…and then finish the night with all your best friends around a bonfire. Our favorite feature is the cedar wood Chapel Stage!
The Cardome Center in Georgetown has an indoor chapel area but also features a black tobacco barn that has been converted into a wedding barn. This is a great option for someone wanting a very rustic, more casual vibe for their wedding day.
I Do At the Barn
In Richmond, KY, you can get married at I Do At the Barn in the barn, outside with pews, or under the brick covered pavilion. It’s never a bad idea to have a great backup plan in the event of inclement weather! Ideally, you want to have a backup plan that will make you just as happy (or at least almost as happy!) as the original plan!
Our undying love for Warrenwood Manor is no secret around here. Although we feel that Warrenwood Manor’s main house fits more of the historic venue category, the barn is too good to be left out. The barn is immaculate and the setting couldn’t be prettier.
