Wedding receptions are always so much fun. It’s the part of the day when everyone can finally relax and the bride and groom can just enjoy each other and all of their friends and family. The typical reception includes dinner, toasts and speeches, first dance of the bride and groom, mother and son and father and daughter, bouquet toss, garter toss, and open dancing. Often followed up with a sparkler exit. All of those events are awesome but it’s cool to throw in something a little unexpected, right? We’re going to give you some ideas for your reception that can make it a little more fun and a little more unique!
Dance on a Cloud
CD Productions, a DJ Entertainment company owned by Chris Dedman, offers a special addition to your first dance. They call it dancing on a cloud and it’s so pretty! The first dance is always a really great moment and this just takes it to a new, magical level.
Bella’s Mini Donuts
Imagine having tiny little donuts made right in front of you and then you get to choose your toppings. Pretty fabulous, right? Well, with Bella’s Mini Donuts, this can happen! They will come set up at your reception and fry up the donuts as needed. Hot and steamy donuts are always a win!
Rob Maystead is the artist at the Caricature Shop produces amazing caricature art. He will set up at the reception and provide art for you and your guests to take home as a keepsake. Everyone loves seeing themselves as a cartoon so this is a super fun addition to your wedding reception!
Group Photo on the Dance Floor
We had honestly never thought about gathering EVERYONE on the dance floor for a group photo until a DJ in Northern Kentucky (DJ on Demand) offered to do this. We now love this idea and think it would be awesome if everyone did this! It’s just a fun and casual shot that will show all of your guests at once and we can always throw in a “silly” shot for good measure!
A sweet pink gelato truck showing up at your wedding…how could you not love that idea?! Yes, there will be cake for people but gelato is something totally unexpected that will make your guests happy. It’s especially awesome if you will have several kids at the wedding. Go to Spotz Gelato’s website to find out more!
Little Champagne Cart
The Little Champagne Cart is a new business in Central Kentucky and we think the idea is great! They’ll bring one of their adorable champagne carts to your wedding and your caterer can serve the alcohol from the cart! They have an assortment of carts that will fit your wedding theme whether it’s vintage or modern. This idea was even featured on MarthaStewart.com!
One Last Dance for the Bride and Groom
Hands down the SWEETEST bride and groom dance we’ve witnessed was this one. As the guests headed outside to get ready for the sparkler exit, the bride and groom stayed back in the reception hall by themselves. The DJ (The Groove Company) played one last song for just the two of them and let’s just say, there were tears all around. It was so special, we have to recommend that others do this too!
