It’s not often that we do anniversary sessions but if we had our choice, we would do them a lot more! Ashley and Justin reached out to us to inquire about whether or not we could shoot their vow renewal and I (Melissa) was thrilled to say, “Yes!”.
Sometimes it feels like spring will never fully arrive here in Kentucky but at least there are a few signs that warm weather is on its way. The pink blooms at Buffalo Trace certainly helped as well as a sunny day.
Megan & Chase are a super cute and sweet couple that are getting married in May 2018. They're both in medical school which can make schedules crazy so we decided to shoot their engagement session while they were in town for Christmas. Who knew that it would be about 20 degrees that day?! It was so cold but the sun was shining and Megan and Chase were amazing. We met them and their adorable dog in Frankfort to shoot at several different locations. We went to the Old Capital building, Brick Street (so cute!), the "new" Kentucky State Capital, Cove Spring Park and Buffalo Trace Distillery. Each location was close to the other and offered awesome photo opportunities. Megan and Chase were troopers every step of the way and we got some great shots! We are so excited to shoot their wedding at the Winchester Opera House in May!
Winter may not be the most popular season for engagement photos but it sure doesn't disappoint us! Aimee & Houston are getting married next year at the beautiful Ashley Inn in Lancaster, KY and she chose to schedule her engagement session in December to take advantage of the Christmas lights. We met first at Cove Spring Park in Frankfort, KY for some shots in a gorgeous natural setting. I love the wintery neutral colors that move into the bright Christmas colors of the lights at Buffalo Trace. We can't wait to shoot Aimee and Houston's wedding next year!
We are so excited to share these photos with you because what could be better than a beautiful engagement session at our favorite time of the year? Buffalo Trace was lit up with magically glowing Christmas lights for Erin & Matt's sweet session. If you live in the area, you should definitely drive through the festive holiday lights that Buffalo Trace has provided to the community! As always, we absolutely loved that Erin and Matt included their sweet dog, Lucy! She is the friendliest little thing with a fierce love for her tennis ball!
Erin & Matt are getting married next summer in Winchester, KY with their reception taking place at the stunning Winchester Opera House. Lucy is going to be the flower girl! She's going to be so adorable! We can't wait to capture their perfect wedding day!
This high school senior session is just too cute not to share! We specialize in wedding photography and do not shoot seniors very often. However, when one of Keith's co-worker's asked us about shooting her daughter's senior photos, we were all in! Makaiya is a beautiful young lady that is also smart and responsible. She is a part of the National Guard! Makaiya is a senior at Franklin County High School so we met them in Frankfort at some of my favorite shooting locations. I think you'll see why they're my favorites, too! Buffalo Trace Distillery is so gorgeous with not only their cool industrial backdrops but stunning garden areas as well! And Cove Spring Park is the perfect natural setting with fields, a creek and waterfalls. Congratulations, Makaiya, on making it to your senior year and we wish you the best life has to offer in the future!
Stephanie & Jeremy are medical students that are getting married next summer! They are currently in school in New York but will be getting married in Northern Kentucky. For their engagement session, we met early in the morning in Frankfort, KY. Liberty Hall, with it's beautiful gardens, made a gorgeous backdrop. Buffalo Trace never disappoints with it's combination of industrial vibes and lush foliage. With a nod to the Bourbon Trail, they brought a bourbon bottle from Woodford Reserve, personalized with their name and wedding date.
Life will surely be an adventure for these two as they make their mark in the world and we are so excited to capture the beginning of it all!
