Hello! I’m Melissa
After years of photographing weddings and families, I’ve learned that what people remember most isn’t the pose or the timeline but how they felt. My role is to bring a sense of calm to every moment, creating space for real connection and genuine joy to unfold naturally.
I’m drawn to natural light, soft laughter, and the small in-between moments that tell the truest stories. Each photo I take is guided by care and intention, shaped by the belief that your memories matter deeply and deserve to be preserved with honesty and warmth.
More than anything, I want your experience to feel peaceful, heartfelt, and real…just like a reflection of the love you share and the life you’re building together.
Melissa’s STORY
I never planned to become a photographer. Keith, my husband, bought our first “nice” camera when Olivia was little and I loved capturing her sweetness and daily life. It grew from there.
I went on a field trip with Olivia’s school class to the Louisville Zoo and took my camera. I was so excited to get good pictures of such a fun day. She had a friend whose mom was unable to come to the field trip. I made sure to grab some shots of her friend so her mom could experience the day as well. Surprisingly, her mom loved the photos so much that she asked me to do a photo session with her and her daughter! I was shocked and very apprehensive about taking photos for someone, but I was also intrigued with the idea, so I said “yes”.
When I look back at those first images, I can see plenty of mistakes and areas where I needed improvement, but it was that shoot that birthed in me a new passion.
After posting those photos on Facebook, I began having many friends and family members ask me to do sessions with them. The more I did, the more I realized I really loved it. After shooting for about a year, a friend asked me to shoot her wedding. I was a little terrified, but I couldn’t say “no”! That day was hard and exhausting but so much fun and from that point on, I knew I wanted to be a wedding photographer.
We have been in the Lexington wedding industry for about 12 years now. Starting out as Keith & Melissa Photography, we’ve worked with so many amazing couples and wedding vendors over the years. We have been published on numerous blogs such as Martha Stewart Weddings and Southern Bride as well as in magazines including Kentucky Bride and Bridal Bliss Magazine. We’re just getting started! We have so much more to do!
